New With Tags at Thrift Store Prices: Is It Real?

New With Tags at Thrift Store Prices. Is That Actually Real?

It's a fair question. You walk into Cartfull, pick up a Champion hoodie, flip over the tag — still attached, never worn, original price printed right on it — and the sticker says something that doesn't add up. Less than you'd pay at a thrift store for something used.

So what's going on?

This Is Not a Thrift Store

Let's start here. Cartfull is not a thrift store. We don't take donations. We don't sell used clothing or secondhand furniture. Everything in our store is sourced from overstock, closeout, and returned merchandise. Product that was produced by a brand, packaged, and never actually sold to a consumer at full price.

That distinction matters a lot. Thrift stores sell items people owned and gave away. We sell items that never made it out of the retail supply chain. New product, brand names, original tags, just at a different price because of where it came from.

Why the Price Is That Low

When a retailer ends up with more product than they can sell — or when a brand discontinues a line — that inventory has to go somewhere. They sell it off in bulk to liquidation buyers. We're one of those buyers.

Because we're buying large quantities at steep discounts, our cost per item is a fraction of what a normal retailer pays. We don't have the overhead of a big-box store. We don't have a marketing budget with national TV ads. We're a family-owned store in North Branch, MN, and we pass the savings directly to you.

That's why the price looks the way it does. It's not a mistake. It's not damaged. It's not expired. It's just a different part of the supply chain.

What "New With Tags" Means at Cartfull

When we say new with tags, we mean it literally. The item has never been worn, used, or opened by a consumer. The manufacturer's tag is still attached. In most cases the original retail price is still printed on that tag, which makes the comparison pretty easy.

You'll find this across our clothing section, home goods, baby products, toys, and more. Not everything we carry is new with tags — some returned merchandise may have been opened or briefly used, but we're always clear about what's what.

When it has the tag, it's new. Full stop.

The Treasure Hunt Part

Here's the honest trade-off: you can't come in and request a specific item. You can't order something online and have it waiting. The inventory we have is the inventory we have, and it changes every week.

Some people find that frustrating at first. Regular shoppers learn to love it. The unpredictability is the point. You come in not knowing what you'll find, and you leave having found something great for a price that made your day.

That's the Cartfull experience. And once you get it, you get it.

Come see what's on the floor this week.
